The Three-Legged Frog

The mythical three-legged toad is said to appear every full moon near homes in which the residents will receive good news the very next day. This is usually in the form of wealth or monetary gain. They are called “Chan Chu” in Chinese but is more commonly known as the “money frog” or the “three-legged frog”.

In ancient China, these mythical frogs are believed to be the bearer of fortune. They are traditionally placed next to the Altar of the Earth God. The three-legged money frog holds a Chinese coin in its mouth and sits on a pile of gold ingots.
