A lion represents courage, strength in community, pride, fertility, nobility, valor, wisdom, power, firm justice, abundance and wealth.

These small carvings are used to teach children how to carve.  Because the floors are dirt, almost all of the carvings stand at a tilt. They stand up, but lean one way or the other. It gives them a certain charm.
