Confucius, the great scholar and philosopher lived from 551-479 BC. He taught simple basic principles: love one another, rule by virtuous example, honor your parents, etc. He believed by following these virtues one could become prosperous while helping others prosper as well (what goes around comes around.) Confucius was also known for his emphasis on education and study, saying that we may not be able to bend fate but we could determine what we accomplished.
