Rose of Jericho, Resurrection Flower or Dinosaur Plant

This is one really special plant. It grows in the deserts of California and Mexico. The legend of the Rose of Jericho is so beautiful. It is all about overcoming overwhelming odds to stand tall in good health, happiness and trust in Christ’s love and gift of forgiveness.
Legend of the Rose of Jericho:
When the infant Jesus fled from Bethlehem with Mary and Joseph, to avoid the massacre of all the young children by King Herod, they crossed the plains of Jericho. When Mary alighted from the donkey on which she was riding, this little flower sprang up at her feet to greet the infant Savior whom she carried in her arms. Flowers sprang up at all the places where the Holy Family rested during their flight to Egypt. All through the Christ’s life on earth the little rose of Jericho continued to flourish, but when He died upon the Cross all these flowers withered and died away at the same time. But three days later, our Lord rose again from the tomb, and at the same time the roses of Jericho came to life, and blossomed as a sign of the joy of the earth because Christ was risen. Because of these happenings the rose of Jericho has ever since borne also the name of the Resurrection flower. It was believed to have bloomed first at Christ’s birth, then closed at the Crucifixion, before once again blooming at Easter.
A prayer used with the Rose of Jericho:
Divine Rose of Jericho: the blessing of our Lord Jesus Christ we receive, you enclose the virtue and the power that has given you, help me overcome the difficulties of life, give me health, strength, happiness, love and peace in my home, luck in my business and the ability to work to earn more money to meet my needs and those of my family.

It is also called the Dinosaur Plant. It grows in the Southern California & Mexican Deserts. These roses are believed to have mystical qualities. Place your Rose of Jericho in a bowl or saucer with water, just covering the bottom roots, after half an hour, it will start spread its branches wide open. Water it every day for up to 7 days. Then allow to dry out completely (about 2 days), the Jericho will close its branches and curl back into a ball. Then you can re-use it again and again. Many families will carefully keep the plant, passing it from generation to generation. It is a wonderful and unusual gift for children and grandchildren because it never really dies. The water the plant grows in is sprinkled around the house to erase negative influences, bringing in a sense of peace and abundance.
