Lord Vishnu
Protector & Peace Maker of the World
Lord Vishnu is the all-pervasive Lord who expands into everything. He is the maintainer of the universe and the complete cosmic creation. He settles disputes with tolerance, wisdom & patience.
He represents the mode of goodness by which everything is sustained.
Lord Vishnu is also called Narayana, which means the shelter, resting place or ultimate goal of all living entities. It also means the one who lives in the hearts of all living beings so they may grow toward a higher truth and a more cohesive and intense reality.
Vishnu may be shown with his wife Laxmi. She is the Goddess of Good Fortune.
How is Vishnu Represented:
Vishnu is pictured with four arms– one holding a club, another a conch shell, the third a discus and the fourth a lotus flower.
“The world rests as the lotus in the palm of my hand; the cosmos revolves around my finger like a discus. I blow the music of life through my conch and wield my mace to protect all creatures.”
Lord Vishnu has visited the earth nine times, each as a different incarnation, the last time it was as Buddha. The tenth incarnation is yet to come.
