I grew up with this peaceful statue. I remember her gracing places of honor in our home when I was a young child. I always thought my father, not very religious and not catholic, bought it for my Mother. Even though he was not into the “Religious Thing,” he knew it was important to my Mom. I was wrong the statue he bought my Mom was the other statue that my sister broke. (Apparently it is stored in the attic. I am going to try to find it and repair it.)
This statue was the first item my Mother purchased, with her first paycheck, from her very first job, for her Mother. My Mom’s faith is very important to her. I love the serene face this statue has. It reminds me of Quan Yin.
My statue of Quan Yin reminds me of these incredibly strong, yet infinitely compassionate women and the gifts they gave us. My Mom is my best friend and her love, compassion and strength is truly beautiful to behold.
